Wayne Sturby was born January 5, 1957 in Flin Flon Manitoba. He graduated from River East Collegiate in 1975. He moved to Snow Lake, Manitoba in 1978 to work in the mining Industry. He worked for 7 years as a miner and long hole driller at several of the mines in operation at depths of 4,000 ft. He met his wife in Snow Lake and has been married for 41 years. They have 2 adult children and 5 grandchildren.

After quitting mining in 1985, he started working in the field of financial services and remained in this field until 1991. During this time, his family moved to The Pas and he became a substitute school teacher in the junior and senior high schools.

Later, he worked with his parents, beginning in 1991, to help them establish their own trucking company. His responsibilities included dealing with compliance issues, driver recruitment and training, and maintenance. In 2010, he became a civil servant for the province of Manitoba and continues to work for them in the Department of Justice.

In the year 2000, he became a member of the Manitoba Soccer Referees Association and several years later, he joined the executive of the Manitoba Senior Soccer League.

In 2015, he worked with others to form the Manitoba Party. In 2016, he was a candidate in the Manitoba General Election running in the constituency of Wolseley. He watched in sadness and disbelief when the party was handed over to a sitting Independent MLA and he filed an Application for Judicial Review that he hoped would correct a wrong that had been committed.

As a consequence of losing the Manitoba Party, he then started the Manitoba Forward Party to keep the vision of the Manitoba Party alive. He worked closely with Elections Manitoba to ensure that the party remained in good standing and developed a good working relationship with them.

He joined the Peoples Party of Canada in 2019 and became President of the Electoral District Association of Provencher and was chosen to be the candidate in the 2019 Federal Election.

In November of 2020, he got together a small group that agreed to work together and to promote the Manitoba Forward Party, but in early December, we were able to reserve the name Manitoba Party and to Officially change our party name to the Manitoba Party.
